Allowed amount
The allowed amount (also called the allowable cost, negotiated rate, payment allowance, or eligible expense) is the maximum amount your health insurance will pay out for a healthcare service covered by the plan. You may have to pay the difference if your healthcare provider charges more than the allowed amount.
